Invest in a good, ergonomic chair and a suitable desk. A good microphone and headphones will ensure nothing gets missed in all those video conferences. How is the lighting? Perhaps a ring-
light or similar will improve the way you show up on screen.
Organisations should streamline the official tools that employees should be using. There are so many virtual meetings, chat, documentation , project and other management tools out there- keeping those streamlined ensures consistency and efficiency.
Organisations should also establish and provide policies and training around laptops, internet services and security. Awareness and training around what could go wrong will save the organisation a lot of pain and money down the line.
Organisations should help the workforce feel productive and connected from home.
Technology is critical to helping people stay connected at a time where we are asked to isolate. The better the IT team can make a successful transition, the more they can help the workforce feel empowered and find new ways to keep motivation high.
A thoughtful approach to working from home from both the employee and the organisation allows you to be productive, happy and very successful. And no need to be running for those trains…
