One platform, every data type
Instead of a different array for block, a filer for file, and a separate object store, VSP One serves all three from one operating model — managed centrally in VSP 360.
Four ways to deploy, one experience
VSP One Block
All-NVMe blockThe all-flash block array at the heart of VSP One — mid-sized to high-end tiers (up to ~50M IOPS / 18.6 PB effective at the top). Built for mission-critical databases, ERP and virtualisation that need consistent low latency.
VSP One File
Unified fileHybrid-cloud file services for unstructured data — home directories, departmental shares and distributed workloads from edge to core to cloud, with the same data-management and cyber-resilience story as block.
VSP One Object
S3 objectEnterprise S3-compatible object storage for cloud-native apps, data lakes and long-term retention at scale — including on-premises S3 capabilities for modern analytics pipelines.
VSP One SDS Block
Software-definedThe same block data services delivered as software on commodity x86 hardware — for hybrid/multicloud builds and teams that want to cut array lock-in and capital cost without losing enterprise resilience.
Indicative capability positioning across the VSP One family — confirmed to your spec on quote.
Built for the workloads you can’t afford to lose
One platform, every data type
VSP One unifies block, file and object behind one operating model and one management plane (VSP 360). You consolidate silos instead of buying — and managing — a different array for each workload.
All-NVMe enterprise performance
VSP One Block is all-NVMe, scaling to roughly 50 million IOPS and 18.6 PB effective on the high-end tier — the consistent, low-latency foundation mission-critical databases and ERP demand.
GAD active-active (zero RPO)
Hitachi Global-Active Device presents the same volume from two sites simultaneously, so a site failure means no data loss and no failover wait — the gold standard for tier-1 availability.
Cyber-resilient by design
Immutable Thin Image snapshots, encryption (FIPS 140-3) and integrations with Veeam, Commvault and Veritas give you a tested ransomware-recovery posture, not just a backup.
VSP 360 + SVOS intelligence
A single control plane across block, file and object with AIOps automation, plus the proven SVOS storage operating system underneath — less manual tuning, fewer surprises.
UK supply, sizing & support
Servnet sizes VSP One to your workload, supplies it in the UK and supports it post-sales — and because we sell every major storage line, the advice on whether Hitachi is the right fit is genuinely impartial.
Hitachi VSP One — common questions
What is Hitachi VSP One?
VSP One is Hitachi Vantara’s current unified storage platform. Rather than separate products for each data type, it delivers block (VSP One Block, all-NVMe), file (VSP One File, SMB/NFS), object (VSP One Object, S3-compatible) and a software-defined block option (VSP One SDS Block) under one operating model and one management plane, VSP 360. It’s aimed at organisations consolidating mission-critical and unstructured workloads onto a single, cyber-resilient platform.
Block, file, object or SDS — which VSP One do I need?
Choose VSP One Block for databases, ERP and virtualisation that need consistent low latency; VSP One File for shared unstructured data (home directories, departmental shares); VSP One Object for S3 data lakes, cloud-native apps and long-term retention; and VSP One SDS Block when you want the same block data services as software on commodity x86 to reduce lock-in and capital cost. Many estates combine block and file. Tell us the workload and we’ll map it — or use the Storage Solution Finder.
What does GAD (Global-Active Device) give me?
GAD presents the same volume actively from two sites at once, so reads and writes continue at both. If a site fails there is no data loss (zero RPO) and effectively no failover wait — the application keeps running on the surviving site. It’s Hitachi’s answer for tier-1 availability and metro-distance business continuity, and a key reason VSP is chosen for the most critical databases.
How does VSP One protect against ransomware?
VSP One combines immutable Thin Image snapshots (which cannot be altered or deleted within their retention window), data-at-rest encryption certified to FIPS 140-3, and integrations with Veeam, Commvault and Veritas. Together these give you a recovery point ransomware cannot reach plus a tested route back — the cyber-resilience posture, not just a backup copy.
How does Hitachi VSP One compare to other enterprise arrays?
VSP One’s differentiators are the unified block/file/object model, GAD active-active replication and Hitachi’s availability heritage. NetApp ONTAP and Dell PowerStore are strong unified rivals; Pure FlashArray competes on simplicity. The right choice depends on your workload, availability requirement and existing estate. Because Servnet supplies all of them, our comparison is impartial — see our business-critical storage guide or size it with the Storage Solution Finder.
Can Servnet supply and support Hitachi Vantara storage in the UK?
Yes — we size VSP One to your capacity, performance and availability needs, supply it in the UK and support it post-sales, alongside the rest of your storage and server estate. Contact our team for impartial advice and a quote.
