Why PowerEdge refurbishes so well
PowerEdge is engineered for long data-centre lifecycles, and Dell’s generational naming (13G, 14G, 15G, 16G) makes the secondary market unusually easy to navigate — you always know exactly what platform you’re buying. The huge install base means R640s and R740s come off lease in volume and in excellent order, with spares cheap and plentiful.
The 14th generation (2017) and 15th generation (2021) are the value sweet spot. They run 1st/2nd and 3rd-generation Intel Xeon Scalable, scale memory to 3TB+, support NVMe and modern RAID, and ship with iDRAC9 — the current Dell management generation. For virtualisation, databases, storage and general server workloads, a re-certified 14G/15G PowerEdge performs like new.
Which PowerEdge generation to buy refurbished
Relative value today of each PowerEdge generation bought re-certified — weighing price, performance, parts supply and remaining support life.
13G (R630/R730) is past Dell support — good for labs and DR on third-party maintenance. 16G refurbished is appearing but still commands a premium; 14G/15G is the value zone for production.

In-memory databases and large mission-critical monoliths.
iDRAC9 management on refurbished PowerEdge
The integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC9) is the out-of-band management heart of every 14G and 15G PowerEdge, and it’s a major reason the platform is so refurbishment-friendly. iDRAC9 gives you HTML5 virtual console, virtual media, full telemetry, agent-free updates and the Lifecycle Controller for bare-metal deployment — all current, all supported.
We deliver every server with iDRAC firmware updated and the management port ready to slot into OpenManage Enterprise or your existing monitoring. Where a unit carries iDRAC Express, we’ll advise on the Enterprise licence upgrade for full remote-console and virtual-media capability.

The practical wins beyond the price tag.
iDRAC9 Enterprise, ready to go
Full remote console, virtual media, telemetry and lifecycle controller — the current Dell management generation, included and configured.
Clear generational platform
Dell’s 13G/14G/15G naming means you know precisely what you’re buying — no ambiguity about CPU family, PCIe generation or memory support.
Built to your workload
CPU, memory, storage tier, RAID and NICs populated to spec before re-certification — not a fixed configuration.
Available immediately
A re-certified 14G/15G ships now while new 16G sits on a lead time — projects move without waiting on the supply chain.
Warranty and support — ProSupport vs third-party
Every refurbished PowerEdge from Servnet ships with a hardware warranty as standard, extendable to suit. For in-support generations Dell ProSupport can be layered where it earns its keep; for end-of-support 13G hardware, third-party maintenance usually matches or beats the OEM SLA at lower cost — and we’ll tell you straight which is right for each box.
As a long-standing Dell channel partner, our refurbished PowerEdge line sits alongside our new PowerEdge, PowerStore and PowerScale business. You can run a mixed new-and-refurbished estate under one contact and one UK engineering team behind the SLA.

Dell refurbished servers — common questions
Are refurbished Dell PowerEdge servers reliable for production?
Yes. PowerEdge is designed for years of continuous data-centre duty; a 14G/15G box coming off lease has substantial life remaining. Each unit is component-audited, consumables-checked, burn-in tested and warrantied, making it well suited to production for the majority of workloads.
Which PowerEdge generation should I buy refurbished?
14G (R640/R740) or 15G (R650/R750) for production — modern Xeon Scalable, NVMe, iDRAC9 and strong supply with remaining support life. 13G (R630/R730) suits labs and DR on third-party maintenance; 16G refurbished exists but still carries a premium.
Is iDRAC fully functional on a refurbished PowerEdge?
Yes — iDRAC9 on 14G/15G is the current management generation. We update firmware before dispatch and, where you need full remote console and virtual media, can arrange the iDRAC9 Enterprise licence.
What warranty comes with a refurbished PowerEdge?
A Servnet-backed hardware warranty as standard, with extension and third-party-maintenance options for end-of-support hardware. We match the warranty to how the server will be used.
Can you configure the PowerEdge to my exact specification?
Yes — processors, memory, storage tiers, RAID and networking are populated to your workload before the unit is re-certified and shipped. Give us the spec or describe the workload.
How is my data protected on the old drives?
All storage is erased to NIST 800-88 with a certificate of data destruction, or physically destroyed on request — no prior-owner data survives refurbishment.
Want PowerEdge capability at a refurbished price?
Send the spec or the workload and we’ll quote a re-certified, configured, warrantied PowerEdge — usually from stock.
